Allan Harris
Tony Bennett calls Mr. Harris “my favorite singer.” The New York Times’ Stephen Holden raves about “the protean talent that is Allan Harris.” A three-time winner of the New York Nightlife Award for “Outstanding Jazz Vocalist,” Mr. Harris makes a rare D.C. appearance before embarking on a tour of Italy. Joining Mr. Harris will be Chris Grasso, piano; Tommy Cecil, bass; and Todd Harrison, drums. No tickets or reservations are required; seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Special Guest Artist from New York City: Nicki Parrott
The Washington Times calls vocalist and bassist Nicki Parrott "the most astonishing new jazz musician we have seen in years." Nicki came to New York in May 1994 on an Arts Council grant from her native Australia to study with the internationally acclaimed bassist, Rufus Reid. In June 2000, Nicki began performing on Monday nights at the Iridium Jazz Club with the legendary guitarist and inventor, Les Paul. Their partnership continued until his recent death. She has appeared the world over at major festivals and concert halls. Joining Ms. Parrott will be Chuck Redd, vibes; Lenny Robinson, drums; Chris Grasso, piano (9/17); and Robert Redd, piano (9/18).

Ms. Thimes is making her mark on stages the world over, most recently closing the night after Dave Brubek's appearance at the Litchfield Jazz Festival. Please join us for a return engagement by the incomparable Denise Thimes. .

Performances will take place in the Empress Lounge, located just off the hotel's lobby. The lounge offers light fare and a complete bar menu. It is a non-smoking room, but a large terrace overlooking the hotel's Japanese Garden is adjacent to the lounge area for patrons who wish to smoke. There is no cover charge.
Directions:
Mandarin Oriental is located at 1330 Maryland Avenue SW, Washington, D.C., just three blocks from the National Mall. If you're in Washington, D.C. on 14th Street heading south toward the 14th Street Bridge, cross the mall and turn left on Independence Avenue, then turn right on 12th Street. Travel three blocks and turn right onto Maryland Avenue SW. Travel 3/4 around the circle and the hotel will be on your right.
Parking:
Parking is not permitted on Maryland Avenue, but street parking is available for free after 6:30 pm on neighboring C Street, D Street, and Maine Avenue. Valet parking is also available.
